In- Patients

Forest House Adolescent Unit

Forest House is an in-patient psychiatric unit for young people between 12 & 18 years of age.

Adolescents and their families/carers receive an individually planned and structured treatment package combining as appropriate: psychiatric assessment and medication, family therapy, individual therapy, occupational therapy, group work and education.

Forest House is a member of Quality Network for In-patient CAMHS (QNIC) and has also received accreditation. This means we are recognised as a unit that can demonstrate and offer a service that meets all the required and recommended standards.

Forest House gives priority to the needs of young people and, wherever possible, work in partnership with parents and/or carers.

Aims of Forest House

The overall service that Forest House offers is based upon evidence-based practice and the experience of the team.

We aim to provide a high-quality, multi-disciplinary mental health service for young people with emotional and mental health problems

The Parent Support Group is offered to all parents/carers and meets once a fortnight. Forest House acknowledges that the admission of a young person to a psychiatric inpatient facility can be challenging and difficult for the parents as well. The Service is flexible and needs led and offers support calls and appointments at Forest House.

We work in close collaboration with other child agencies to ensure the provision of the most effective service in the best interest of the young person.

We aim to provide a service which respects the gender, race, sexual orientation, and culture of all adolescents and families referred to the service. We try to ensure that these issues are actively considered in offering appropriate advice and treatment.

About Forest House

There are 16 bedrooms at Forest House, which all have their own ensuite facilities.

Seperate male and female areas are also provided.

Visitors

Visitors are welcome any day of the week, as long as this has been agreed with the nursing staff. However on Wednesdays, visiting is slightly longer to allow young people to spend some time away from the unit with their family, as long as there is not a clinical reason as to why they should not.

Young people are encouraged to go on leave for some period of the weekend but visitors are welcome if this is not possible.
